The apartment was designed with one person in mind – the owner, who was looking for a place tailored to her needs, but with a versatile layout that would work equally well as a rental unit. The key was to create a space that combines functionality with a cozy character, as well as to make maximum use of the available square footage.
In the design process from the beginning, we were inspired by nature and tranquility – bright wooden accents, warm fabrics and a harmonious color scheme of beige and white dominate, broken by green plants and accessories in the form of books or ceramics. The heart of the apartment is the living area, which is a living room with a kitchen that also has the function of a comfortable dining room. The whole is kept in light, pastel colors. The addition of veneer in the built-in furniture brings a Scandinavian style to the interior. Oblique cabinets, light wooden board on the floor allude to naturalness. The whole was designed to create an aesthetically pleasing, but also maximally practical living space.
The furniture cabinetry is made to measure and extends all the way to the ceiling, offering plenty of storage space without visually weighing down the interior. The natural light that flows freely into the apartment emphasizes the pleasant texture of the wood and the gentle curves in the niches – it is these subtle details that give the interior softness and character. The whole, despite its small size, is light, spacious and functional.
Although the apartment was built with one person in mind, its thoughtful layout also makes it ideal as a functional rental space – comfortable, aesthetically neutral, yet with soul.
