The client wanted to combine Japandi style with functional solutions and use a color scheme inspired by autumn – shades of orange and brown. The 53 square meters were to include non-standard elements such as a whirlpool tub, an orbiter, an exercise equipment rack and a sauna.
The apartment consists of two rooms, a living room with a kitchenette, a hallway and a bathroom. The design challenge was to fit all these elements into such a limited space. Initially, we considered combining a spa area in the bathroom, but after analysis, this proved impossible due to the existing wall layout. So we decided on a free-standing sauna, which only requires a window and access to electricity, which saved space.
The sauna found its place in the second room, which was originally intended as a mini gym and office. We managed to fit all the planned elements there: sauna, orbiter, equipment rack and office area. Thanks to the recessed housing, we made full use of the space available in the apartment.
We designed the living room in the Japandi style, with low furniture and wall panels that refer to Japanese inspiration. The color scheme of the interior is based on beiges and wood tones, with the addition of “Japanese Crane” wallpaper. The bathroom was planned with functionality in mind – a whirlpool bathtub with a separate electrical circuit and a consistent floor that connects the bathroom to the rest of the apartment.
The kitchen, while primarily functional, blends with the hallway and bedroom to create a harmonious whole. The design is a combination of minimalism, functionality and aesthetics that responds to the client’s needs.
